Highlights

More information

Montmartre has always drawn outsiders, artists, and original thinkers. This private walk invites you into this bohemian world, guided by someone who knows the neighborhood intimately. You’ll move at an easy pace through cobblestone streets and overlooked corners — like the city’s last remaining vineyard — with stories that connect the past to the life unfolding here today. From the popular I Love You Wall to a surrealist sculpture to the Place du Tertre, busy with the French artists of today, you’ll see art of all styles. Your guide will point out the former homes and haunts of famous artists as we pass them (van Gogh, Picasso, and others). And we’ll even visit an artist’s private studio to learn firsthand the unusual technique that fuels his art. Admire the Moulin de la Galette, immortalized by Renoir in 1876, and the oft-photographed facade of the Sacré-Cœur Basilica. This is also a lovely vantage point to take in the Parisian skyline from the hilltop. Our experience concludes at a historic restaurant once frequented by Monet. Here, you’ll sample French wine and cheeses in a guided tasting, learning how their unique terroirs influence their distinctive flavors.
