More information
Madrid is a city made to be tasted — and this experience moves through it the way locals wish every visitor would: on two wheels, with good company, and an appetite.
It starts sweet. At Chocolatería 1902, one of Madrid's original pastry houses, warm churros arrive alongside thick drinking chocolate blended from South American cacao, a ritual the city has kept for over a century.
From here, an e-bike carries you to Puerta del Sol, where a small stone marker in the pavement quietly declares itself the origin of every road in Spain. Nearby stands the Oso y el Madroño — the bear and strawberry tree rendered in bronze, an emblem of Madrid since the Middle Ages.
The Plaza Mayor opens next: a vast 17th-century square enclosed by terracotta facades, once the stage for coronations, processions, and spectacles of empire. Your guide traces the stories still held in its stones, where kings were crowned and heretics tried.
Follow your guide along the Gran Vía, where the Metropolis Building stands, crowned by a bronze winged Victory poised above the avenue's sweep. Further on, the Cibeles Fountain, carved from white marble in 1782, anchors one of the city's most stately intersections.
The pace softens at Retiro Park, where tree-lined paths lead to a glass palace and formal rose gardens.
Your journey ends at Extrem Ibérico with a guided tasting of premium cheeses and ham accompanied by Spanish wine. Upgrade, and a maestro cortador carves acorn-fed Ibérico at your table, each translucent slice drawn with rhythm and skill that Spaniards compare to playing a violin. Either way, it's an afternoon that is, in its quiet way, unmistakably Madrid.
